Piazza Camillo Prampolini

Also known as “Piazza grande” (“Big Square”) contrary to the so called “Piazza piccola” (“Small Square” Piazza San Prospero), reached the present shape during the renaissance time.
The most important buildings of the political and religious life of the city are situated in this square. Among them, the Cathedral , the Episcopal Palace and the Baptistery , built in the Middle Ages and restored in recent times.
In the Northern side of the square Palazzo del Monte emerges with its clock Tower attached.
On the opposite side there is the City Hall , with the Tricolour Hall and the Bordello Tower, today the place of municipal offices. In front of Palazzo del Monte there is Crostolo Statue, a monument beloved by the people of Reggio Emilia, which represents the river crossing the city.

A day in public square

One market morning
